The Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network (RAINN) has been helping survivors of sexual assault and violent crimes since 1994. They provide survivor services, public education, are involved with making public policy, and are available for consulting services when necessary. Their team is dedicated to offering the right support while ensuring the dignity of those who need their help. Help is available to anyone who has incurred or is currently in a situation where rape, child molestation, abuse, or incest is occurring. Reaching out for help is the first and the most challenging step for anyone to take. Once you take that step you will be treated with the individual care that you need. Their team consists of experts in the field that are qualified to help you and you will be treated like a human being has the right to be treated, with respect and dignity.
RAINN has provided support for more that 204 million survivors. Although there has been a dramatic fall in these crimes since 1993 (more than 50%) , the sad fact still remains, that every 98 seconds a sexual assault occurs. More disturbingly, only 6 out of 1,000 rapists will end up being punished for their crimes.
It is important to understand that there are different types of sexual violence: rape, child sexual abuse and molestation, incest, and partner sexual violence. RAINN helps survivors with the psychological, emotional, and physical effects that they will experience during their healing process. If you are currently in a situation of abuse, there is help! And you can and will heal with the right help. You are not alone even though you may be feeling that way. Please contact The Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network at 800-656-HOPE [4673], or if you have access to the internet you can visit RAINN and talk to an expert on live chat. They will take excellent care of you, guaranteed.
For many people, the experience of being assaulted does not end when the crime is over … Whether its a child who was told “if you tell anyone something bad will happen to your parents,” to an adult who does not feel safe anywhere at anytime. RAINN does a good job of giving them their life and their voice back. For too long survivors have had to deal with the worry of being blamed for what a disturbed individual did to them. They’ve been violated in unspeakable ways, and have been shaken to their very core. RAINN can and will help you!
With 63% of sexual assaults NOT reported and only 12% of child sexual abuse actually reported, we need RAINN and the services they provide to take away the shame associated with rape or incest or abuse. We need to get the 6 out of 1,000 punished to 1,000 out of 1,000 punished. Help us help you! These statistics are from the National Sex Violence Resource Center, Info & Stats for Journalists.
Bringing this issue out into the open, and removing the stigma that is attached to its victims, is one of the first steps to the help and support survivors desperately need. Amen.
If you know anyone experiencing the victimization of rape, incest, child molestation, or abuse please forward this information to them. This is our outreach, and we need everyone’s help. Thank you.
